Community Outreach and Research Translation Core

We are working to improve health and well being in the Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana, and Idaho (WWAMI) region through a partnership of 3 unique communities within the ITHS:
Cort Graphic
  • Group Health (GH), a statewide integrated group practice delivery system in Washington.
  • American Indian and Alaska Native communities and organizations.
  • Primary care clinical and teaching practices in the WWAMI states.

These 3 Pacific Northwest populations offer extraordinary diversity across race/ethnicity, culture, rural/urban location, geography, health service delivery and financing systems, and the health status of their members.

CORT activities will include:

  • Learning about the research topics of most interest to the communities.
  • Learning about the research, training, and analytic needs of the communities and responding to those needs.
  • Developing pilot practice/community-based research networks within the American Indian and Alaska Native communities and the primary care clinical and teaching practices in the WWAMI states..
  • Creating clinically- and culturally-appropriate shared resources and tools for research that is relevant to the partner communities.
  • Building and leveraging partnerships for funding between ITHS and practice/community-based researchers.
  • Setting up diverse community health advisory boards to help shape and direct the work of the CORT.
