| Specialty equipment/services | A HIFU (high intensity focused ultrasound) table and software was installed in 2009. Currently, only small animal research has been approved for this equipment, but we anticipate approval for use in human research soon. MR directed HIFU is being used for detection and treatment of uterine fibroids in other parts of the world. This technology is also being looked at for breast tumors. |
