BioMolecular Imaging Center

Description

We operate a full-body MRI scanner with resources to help any researcher with protocol development and scanning. We will be expanding our facilities in the very near future to allow better use of our facilities. We are interested in collaborations with other research groups here at South Lake Union.

A HIFU (high intensity focused ultrasound) table and software was installed in 2009.  Currently, only small animal research has been approved for this equipment, but we anticipate approval for use in human research soon.  MR directed HIFU is being used for detection and treatment of uterine fibroids in other parts of the world.  This technology is also being looked at for breast tumors.
