Study data management tools
We offers a variety of services related to study data management tools (electronic data capture, electronic case report forms), including:
- Consultation on designing a data management section for your grant application
- Pilot partnerships to evaluate selected tools for Electronic Data Capture (EDC)
- Identification of other study data management resources that may be available at your institution
- Consulting on data management issues at hourly rates
How researchers use this resource or service
We have helped the following researchers identify appropriate study management tools:
- Dr. Ruth Landau, Professor of Anesthesiology, is piloting use of Catalyst Web Tools to manage her study "Prediction of Post-Cesarean Section Pain." Leveraging user-driven university resources allowed Dr. Landau's study team to get started quickly at minimal expense.
- Dr. Ian de Boer, Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Department of Nephrology and an ITHS-sponsored KL2 scholar, is using the WebTrial Electronic Data Capture (EDC) application for his study "Randomized Controlled Trial of Vitamin D3 in Diabetic Kidney Disease". Dr. de Boer expects to collect multiple case report forms (CRFs) at baseline and follow up visits for the 40 enrollees.
- Dr. Sarah Ringold, Pediatric Rheumatologist at Seattle Children's Hospital and a Mentored Scientist of the Center for Clinical and Translational Research (CCTR), is preparing to collect CRFs in OpenClinica to establish a Pediatric Rheumatic Disease Registry. ITHS Biomedical Informatics (BMI) core is exploring OpenClinica, a widely used platform for electronic data capture (EDC), to be the successor to WebTrial.
