ITHS to Present New Learning Center at NORDP Conference

The Institute of Translational Health Sciences will present its new online Self-Directed Learning Center at the National Organization of Research Development Professionals Annual Research Development Conference. The conference, which is taking place May 19 to 21, 2014, in Portland, Oregon, will allow round table and poster session opportunities for an ITHS team to describe the development process, instructional design theory, and implementation approach of the new Center.

The Learning Center is a free online learning repository that is adaptable to individual learning needs. It covers domains ranging from research initiation to data analysis and management to professional regulations and skills. The Center is designed to serve users with beginning, intermediate, or advanced levels of knowledge of clinical and translational sciences. Users are able to learn their own pace and can track their progress as they complete training sessions in their area(s) of interest.

The ITHS team that developed the Learning Center included Dr. Cathryn Booth-LaForce, ITHS Senior Faculty Director and the Charles and Gerda Spence Professor of Nursing at the University of Washington; Leslie Rae Schmitz, ITHS Director of Education Programs; and Sensen Li, ITHS Curriculum Manager. Ms. Schmitz and Ms. Li will present the Learning Center at the NORDP Conference.
