IDEA Study

IDEA Study

Aging with Pride: IDEA is recruiting adults aged 50 and older with memory loss or other dementia symptoms and their care partners. Either the person with memory loss and/or the care partner needs to be LGBTQ. The participant with memory loss and their care partner (a spouse, partner, friend, or others who assist them) will participate in a 9-session program. Trained coaches teach the pair a set of behavioral strategies including education, effective communication, and problem-solving techniques. Coaches also instruct them on individualized exercise programs (e.g., balance/flexibility/low-impact exercises). The care partner completes 5 telephone surveys over the course of one year. All study activities are completed in the participant's home or another location of their choice. This study accepts participants in Seattle, San Francisco and Los Angeles.
