Thank you for your interest in the UW Smartphone Cough Study!<\/p>\n

The purpose of this study is to collect cough data for our cough detection smartphone app. This app has the potential to make a big impact in the fight against the COVID-19 outbreak so we really appreciate your interest.<\/p>\n

If you choose to participate in the study:<\/p>\n

1) We will send you a smartphone with the cough detection app already installed. If you already have an Android phone that meets our minimum specifications, you will be able to use your normal smartphone.<\/p>\n

2) We will ask you to carry the smartphone with you at all times over the course of a 24-hour period. The app will record all of your audio during the study. Why do we need all of your audio? It\u2019s so we can test our app and make sure it hasn’t missed any of your coughs.<\/p>\n

3) To ensure patient privacy, all of your audio will kept in a secure database and will only be used for cough research.<\/p>\n

4) After the 24-hour period, you\u2019ll send the smartphone back to us in our prepaid envelope<\/p>\n

You\u2019ll be compensated $40 for your participation in the study via gift card.<\/p>\n

Participant Eligibility<\/h3>\n

Patient must currently has a frequent cough, defined as coughing naturally at least 5 times per hour.<\/p>\n
