We will compare and contrast two non-drug treatments for insomnia. The trial requires Telehealth visits but does not require any visits to the Palo Alto VA hospital. To determine eligibility, you will receive cognitive and psychological testing during an initial visit prior to any treatments. If you are eligible, the treatment will be administered once a week for six consecutive weeks over Telehealth. After your treatment is over, you will again complete cognitive and psychological testing. Six months after the end of your treatment, we will have another Telehealth visit to repeat the cognitive and psychological testing.

Participant Eligibility

Participants need to be Veterans of the 1990-1991 Gulf War with insomnia that has lasted 3 months or longer.

Contact

Allison Morehouse
(650) 709-9224

Additional Study Details

Full Study Title
Predictors of Response to Insomnia Treatments for Gulf War Veterans

Study ID: IRB-38548

ClinicalTrials.gov Link: NCT03208049

Start Date: 10/04/2016

End Date: 07/31/2021

Investigator(s)
Jerome A Yesavage, MD

Accepts Healthy Volunteers?
Yes

Study Site(s)

Palo Alto Veterans Association

3801 Miranda Ave
Palo Alto, California 94304

The Co Psy N Sleep Lab at the Palo Alto Veterans Association is conducting a paid research study of treatments for insomnia in Gulf War Veterans.
