The University of Washington SPEAC Lab is inviting individuals who have experienced changes to their speech and\/or voice due to any type of head and neck cancer to answer survey questions about their communication experiences. We ask participants to nominate at least one family member, friend, or coworker to also answer survey questions about their own experiences. Your participation will help healthcare providers support people with head and neck cancer and the important people in their lives to stay connected through communication. This is an online survey study that will take about 30-45 minutes (we can mail a paper survey instead if you prefer). People with head and neck cancer and their family \/ friends will complete SEPARATE surveys, and data are not shared between participants. This study is open to anyone in the U.S.<\/p>\n

Each participant will be mailed a $25 check upon survey completion.<\/p>\n

The person with head and neck cancer needs to start first and then nominate their family member \/ friend \/ coworker to participate.<\/p>\n

Participant Eligibility<\/h3>\n

Has speech and\/or voice changes due to head and neck cancer
\nLives in the US
\nAble to complete questionnaires about their experiences communicating with other people
\nAble to complete questionnaires in English
\nHas at least 1 family member, friend, or coworker who agrees to also participate in the study to complete their own questionnaires
\nLives in the community (not a nursing home)
\nAge 18 years or older<\/p>\n
