The purpose of this study is to determine if a 4 week self-management intervention after a person receives an implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) shock, will prevent the development of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).<\/p>\n

Participant Eligibility<\/h3>\n

Must have:
\n1) ICD implant
\n2) received at least 1 ICD shock in week previous to study enrollment;
\n3) able to read, speak, and write English;
\n4) online access using mobile phone and computer for study duration.<\/p>\n

Must not have:
\n1) current diagnosis PTSD or other serious mental health disorder
\n2) cognitive difficulties
\n3) < 18 years of age;
\n4) serious alcohol use
\n5) regular non-medical use of opiates, cocaine, amphetamines, or other illicit substances<\/p>\n
