We offer a centralized, shared resource for time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy and imaging that provides access to instruments, technologies, and services, as well as expert consultation€, in accordance with the model for core facilities set forth by the National Institutes of Health National Center for Research Resources. Our facility, with support and funding from the National Institutes of Health (COBRE), National Science Foundation (EPSCoR), and The University of Montana, is available on either a collaborative or contractual basis. We work with both collaborators and clients to design novel experiments, to test and develop specialized spectroscopic devices, to test and develop data analysis methods, and to brainstorm about scientific problems. In academic interactions, the Core and user work as research collaborators. In commercial partnerships, the Core works either as collaborator or consultant, depending on the nature of the project and the needs of the partner.
