Randomization of Clinics or Hospitals

Randomization of Clinics or Hospitals

Randomization can also be used to sort entire clinics or hospitals.

This means all the patients at clinic A would get Medication A. And all the patients at clinic B would get medication B and those at clinic C would get medication C. After a certain amount of time, patients at clinic A are compared with patients at clinics B and C to see who did better. As with patients, researchers can compare any number of hospitals or clinics with each other. This approach is called “cluster randomization.”

Randomization of Clinics or Hospitals

Randomization of clinics or hospitals can address the limitations of medical record review. Individual patients can also be randomized. Watch a video on approaches to Research on Medical Practices.
