RADIANT

RADIANT

Identify patients and families with novel rare/atypical forms of diabetes and characterize the underlying molecular mechanisms
Outreach and inclusivity of minority and underrepresented populations
Perform genetic and phenotypic characterization of participants
Construct an access-controlled biorepository and database
Make data and biosamples available to the scientific community to advance research in this area
RADIANT will investigate atypical diabetes cases:
whole genome sequencing (+ other “omics”: RNA-sequencing, metabolomics)
deep phenotyping of individuals and/or families

Focus on:
New genetic variants underlying rare phenotypes within known categories
Entirely new phenotypes and genetic variants outside known categories

ALL INTERSTED PARTIES START BY SUBMITTING THEIR INFORMATION ONLINE.
http://www.atypicaldiabetesnetwork.org
Lab kits will be sent to their homes, if they qualify, no in person visits until stage 3.

Participant Eligibility

High likelihood of rare & atypical DM:
T2D dx prepubertal or non-obese
Mendelian pattern w/early onset (<18 yo)
Syndromic
Non-progressive or rapidly progressive
Low insulin requirements (<0.5 u/kg/day)
Cyclical, periods of remission
Lean PCOS or GDM
“A-B-” or “A-B+” subtypes of Ketosis-Prone Diabetes (unprovoked DKA at dx)
