ITHS has a new opportunity for broadly interdisciplinary collaboration through the Interdisciplinary Solution Development Award. Examples of collaboration for this award might be solving molecular biology problems with computer science or addressing renal failure with waste management science.

To assist scientific investigators in identifying partners for this collaborative pilot, ITHS is hosting a WWAMI-wide workshop, recruiting participants from business, policy, informatics, computer science, communications, education, and related colleges at our regional institutions to collaborate with Clinical and Translational Science (CTS) researchers. The session will focus on community-identified CTS roadblocks and include breakouts and opportunities to match with a collaborator if you haven’t already. Participants will share methods and resources that could be linked and adapted as a solution, sowing new interdisciplinary projects in workshop-generated connections.

Share Ideas with the Community

Prepare for the workshop by posting a translational science challenge to the community on this Padlet. Others perusing the board can find your opportunity and comment on how they can help. You can also scan the posted problems to identify projects you contribute to. If there’s a match, we encourage you to join forces and apply as co-PIs to receive up to $25k to get started on your project.

Event Description

The annual Networking to Enhance Development (NED) Conference is a professional development conference for and by research coordinators. Participation in NED allows research coordinators to develop contacts, share ideas, and learn from peers.

This year’s conference will be in-person only and held Friday, September 18 at UW Medicine South Lake Union in Seattle. Our theme this year is Connecting People, Process, and Purpose. Registration will open on Wednesday, July 15, at 9am PDT.

The NED Conference is organized by the Institute of Translational Health Sciences and is a collaboration between the University of Washington, Fred Hutch, and Seattle Children’s.

This Year’s Event

This year’s opening plenary session will be Partnering with Families in Clinical Trials: Real-world lessons from a mother’s journey from her child’s diagnosis to participating in a clinical trial, advocacy and beyond, presented by Kristen Baugher. Register for NED 2026

Registration for NED 2026 will open on Wednesday, July 15, at 9am PDT. The link to the registration form will be available here when registration opens.

Please note that there is a $50/person registration fee for NED this year. As organizers, we want to make sure we can continue to provide the engaging content you’ve come to expect every year, and charging a fee allows us to do that. If you have questions about the fee, please email ithsadmn@uw.edu. Thank you for your continued support and we look forward to seeing you at NED!

UW worktags cannot be used to pay the attendance fee; however, your department may be willing to reimburse you for the cost. Please speak to your supervisor and follow your department or institution’s reimbursement procedure after paying with your credit/debit card.
