27 Apr Apply Now: Grant Writing Program for Clinicians and Junior Faculty
Applications are now open for the Grant Writing Program, a 12-week course that helps junior faculty and postdocs create a completely written grant that is ready for submission to a funding organization. Between 16-20 participants will be admitted into the course following a review of candidate qualifications, topic of the proposal, and mentor’s letter of support.
Developed by Professors Annette Fitzpatrick and Larry Kessler, this course is available to early-career faculty and postdocs at ITHS Partner Institutions and will meet each Wednesday from 3-5pm PDT (virtual), September 9 through December 2. There will also be a mock study section the week of December 8 (dates/times TBD).
How to Apply
Please send the application materials to kesslerl@uw.edu & fitzpal@uw.edu:
- a current CV
- a statement on the objectives of the grant they will be writing in class (a paragraph or two is sufficient)
- a letter of support from their mentor agreeing to two distinct efforts of work for this Fall:
- In terms of the mentor’s commitment, we require the mentor to review the work of their mentee over the course period and provide written feedback to the participant and the instructors (to ensure we are all aligned with each other).
- We also require the mentor to attend one hour of the 4-hour mock study sections at the end of the course, this year during the week of December 7. We ask the mentors to plan to attend for a full hour during the session for them to participate as they would in a study section.
Enrollment costs $3,500 and applications are due May 29. To learn more about the program, course format, participant and mentor expectations, and application details, please refer to the course page.
