Adult Translational Research Unit

The Translational Research Unit (TRU) supports clinical research by providing a dedicated space for study teams to safely conduct Phase I-Ill research study visits with support from GCP certified nurses and medical assistants.

Located at UW Medical Center (UWMC), The space includes six clinical research rooms equipped with four beds and six procedure chairs, a CLIA-certified lab, consultation room, and access to emergency nursing support.

Experienced staff are available to perform clinical aspects of research protocols and provide assistance for study team-led visits, and their mobile program (mTRU) deploys on-call registered nurses to inpatient units and ambulatory clinics at UWMC to further assist investigators with their research.

TRU staff are experienced in supporting a variety of therapeutic, observational, and interventional clinical studies, with areas of expertise including immunotherapy, pharmacokinetic, oncology vaccine, and first-in-human drug studies, nursing care, IV infusions, EKG testing, and leukapheresis.

Supported by ITHS, the TRU is now also part of the UW Medicine Clinical Trials Office (CTO).
