Registration is open for the Introduction to Clinical Research Boot Camp

ITHS is excited to offer a two-day Introduction to Clinical Research Boot Camp for faculty, staff, and post-doctoral fellows. This intensive workshop is designed to provide foundational knowledge in designing and managing a clinical trial for researchers who are new to the translational process.

The keynote and closing sessions will be held jointly while the majority of the sessions will be separate in order to feature content that is specific to faculty and staff roles. Sessions will be highly-interactive, with opportunities to practice skills and receive feedback. Each course features experts from across the University of Washington, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Seattle Children’s Hospital, and the Seattle Cancer Care alliance, offering a wide breadth of knowledge and experience.

“This boot camp fills a much needed gap across our institutions,” says ITHS Co-Principal Investigator Paul Martin, MD. Dr. Martin served as the Medical Director of Clinical Research Support with the Fred Hutch Clinical Trials Office from 2011 to 2017 and will deliver the Keynote session at this year’s Boot Camp. “New clinical researchers typically learn how to organize and conduct clinical trials informally from their peers,” continued Dr. Martin, “the Boot Camp provides a more structured, comprehensive overview to prepare new investigators and staff members for this type of work.”

The two-day boot camp provides a great opportunity for anyone to get started in a career as a clinical investigator or research staff member.
