ITHS launches a community-engaged research seminar series

Have you considered the best ways to involve the community in your scientific research? This is a big question with many parts – Who is ‘the community’? What are the benefits of community engagement to research? At what stage of research should you engage communities? What types of projects are best suited for community engagement?

As part of our professional development program for researchers, ITHS has partnered with the Seattle Children’s Center for Diversity and Health Equity and the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center Health Communication Research Center to launch a new series that addresses all these questions and more.

Offered quarterly, each session will dive deeply into key elements regarding community-engaged research. Gain a foundational understanding for what community engaged research entails, learn about submitting and managing grants in this context, and go over some of the key challenges and advantages you may come across when working with communities.

Due to the high level of interactive training, this series is available as a hands-on, in-person experience only. All sessions are offered at no cost to attendees through ITHS membership.
