FAQ

Here are some answers to questions you might have about the 2023 Medical Data Science Symposium. If we haven’t covered everything, please feel free to email us at imds@uw.edu.

Do I need to become an ITHS member or log in before I can register?

No, you do not have to be an ITHS member or log into the ITHS website in order to register for the Medical Data Science Symposium.

However, becoming an ITHS member is free and easy! ITHS membership gives you access to services and resources, funding, education and training, and more. Learn more and sign up here.

What does my registration fee cover?

Your registration fee covers:

  • admission to both days of the symposium
  • light refreshments on Mon, February 27
  • boxed lunch on Tue, February 28
Will food be provided at the symposium?

Yes. Admission to the symposium includes light refreshments on Feb 27 and a boxed lunch on Feb 28. In addition, the Husky Den Food Court on the lower level of the Husky Union Building will be open during the event.

Is parking available at the Husky Union Building?

We strongly encourage you to bike, walk or take public transportation to the symposium, but there is parking available near the Husky Union Building (HUB). Padelford is the closest garage. Rates for the Padelford garage are $4/hour or $18.75/day. You can find more information about getting to the HUB here.

What is the Husky Union Building Lyceum?

The Lyceum is a large event space on the first floor of the Husky Union Building (HUB). It is room 160 on the map below. The HUB is located at 4001 E Stevens Way NE, Seattle, WA 98195. Directions to the HUB are available here.

I would like to know more about abstract submission.

If you submit an abstract, you can attend the Symposium at no cost.

The abstract can be any scientifically/research relevant project work, and can include ongoing or unpublished work. Some presenters may be non-academic, giving an overview of their business unit or domain as it relates to clinical/computational.

All abstracts will be assumed to be for posters unless you select the option to be considered for a short talk as well. If you submit a poster abstract, you can consider it accepted. We will be in contact closer to the event to make sure you have all the logistical details for the poster session.
