Boot Camp 2022

ITHS is excited to announce dates for our upcoming Clinical Research Boot Camp, designed to help faculty, research staff, and post-doctoral fellows learn how to design and manage clinical trials. This year’s format will be different than before, as attendees will listen to and engage with panels of experts who will share lessons based on their real-life experience in the field. No matter your role in clinical research, our events will give you expert insights and motivation to advance your research career.

New exciting changes ahead!

The Clinical Research Boot Camp will remain a series of free virtual lunchtime events held over two weeks in July, and open to ITHS members across the region and beyond, but we’ve revamped the format and registration process to improve the experience for participants.

  • PANEL INTERVIEW FORMAT: Instead of didactic sessions, panels of topic experts will inspire you with insights into personal experiences and challenges.
  • A LA CARTE REGISTRATION: Instead of registering for a whole week of investigator or research staff-focused sessions, you’ll be able to choose and attend the events that are most relevant to you.

Session Topics

Week One

  • How to Get Started as an Investigator in an Externally Sponsored Study
  • How to Make Best Use of Monitors and Coordinators
  • How to Make the Transition from Investigator to Local PI for an Externally Sponsored Study
  • How to Launch and Conduct an Investigator-Initiated Trial With or Without Pharma Support
  • How to Navigate an IND Application and Trial Under FDA Oversight

Week Two

  • How to Navigate the Start-Up Process: Tips for Efficiency from Professionals
  • If We Build It, Will They Come? Strategies for Recruitment
  • Can We Afford to Do This Study?  How to Prepare and Evaluate a Budget
  • Roles, Responsibilities and Relationships:  How Do We Work in Teams?
  • Can We Really Do This Study? How to Read a Clinical Trial Protocol

Each boot camp session is open to both investigators and research staff. While some sessions may be more specific to either investigators or research staff roles, registrants are welcome to choose the sessions that interest them, regardless of role or experience.
