Description

In this session, visiting Harvard KL2 Scholar Adrian D. Haimovich, MD, PhD, will discuss the bedside-to-algorithm-to-bedside lifecycle for a novel serious illness communication intervention designed for the emergency department setting.

Learning Objectives

  • Introduce serious illness communication construct as a method to elicit care goals and preferences of seriously ill patients
  • Expose participants to the opportunities and limitations of electronic health record algorithms as a lever to change clinician behavior
  • Explore the lifecycle of electronic health record interventions

Clinical Instructor in Emergency Medicine, Harvard Medical School

Adrian Haimovich is a physician-scientist at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center where he is also Director of Geriatric Emergency Medicine. His research is at the intersection of electronic health record interventions, artificial intelligence, and geriatric emergency care.
