Visiting Scholar Simon Ascher, MD, will discuss his project, which aims to integrate patient preferences into the process of setting personalized blood pressure targets, promoting shared decision-making and tailored treatment strategies that align with individual values and health goals.

Simon Ascher is an academic hospitalist and clinical epidemiologist at UC Davis passionate about improving clinical decision-making for cardiovascular disease prevention. His KL2 focused on preliminary work to advance a new paradigm of personalized blood pressure targets for hypertension based on individual-level risks and preferences. His K23 aims to develop and pilot a blood pressure target decision aid that provides patients and providers a novel tool for engaging in shared decision-making.
