Demystify the Start-Up Process with the Translational Science Entrepreneurship Program

Demystify the Start-Up Process with the Translational Science Entrepreneurship Program

Making the jump from research to the real-world can be daunting – but not if you have the right tools & training. Enter the Translational Science Entrepreneurship Program (TSEP), a new entrepreneurship-focused training program designed to bridge the gap between scientific discovery and real-world application. The primary objective of this program is to accelerate the translation of scientific and technological innovations into practical clinical use, and the program is accepting applications until April 5, 2024.

Teddy Johnson, PE, MBA
Director of Technology Development

Built on the foundation of prior entrepreneurship workshops and business courses led by the ITHS Technology Development Center, the TSEP is designed to prepare individuals for a seamless transition from academic research to entrepreneurial leadership. The TSEP curriculum is curated to cover a wide range of topics essential for entrepreneurial success, including business strategy, market analysis, commercialization strategies, and emphasis on practical application. The sessions throughout the program are conducted in a hybrid format to accommodate various schedules and locations.

The ideal candidates would include post-doctoral scientists, research scientists, PhD graduate students, and faculty members who demonstrate sincere interest in entrepreneurship. Teddy Johnsonm, ITHS Director of Technology Development, says instruction like this fills a gap for early entrepreneurs who can benefit from a step-by-step approach: “The age of ‘Big Tech’ often spotlights successful entrepreneurs yet offers few avenues for aspiring individuals to embark on their own entrepreneurial journey,” says Johnson. “TSEP aims to demystify the startup founding process and provide guidance for those eager to take the plunge.”

By providing aspiring entrepreneurs with indispensable tools, mentorship, and resources, the program aims to support transformative startups that address pressing societal needs. Best of all, participation in the program comes at no cost, emphasizing its commitment to provide access to entrepreneurship education.
