Dr. Jackie Wirz, Assistant Dean for Graduate Studies and Director of Career and Professional Center at Oregon Health & Science University, will lead a workshop with graduate students and postdocs to identify knowledge, skills and abilities which can be applied to a wide range of different jobs and industries.

This hands on, highly interactive workshop will not only help participants identify transferable skills, it will help them articulate them with authenticity and assurance. Whether you are just starting your professional development journey or are putting the polishing touches on your resume, this workshop will help you confidentially communicate your worth to diverse stakeholders.

About the speaker

Dr. Wirz helps students succeed both during their tenure in graduate school, and as successful scientific professionals in a varietyof fields after graduation. Jackie earned her Ph.D. from Oregon Health & Science University in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology; her research career has spanned 15 years and has covered diverse topics such as transcriptional regulation, macromolecular structure determination, collagen biophysics and DNA repair. Her professional interests include information, data, and knowledge management, professional skills development, data management, research ethics, research impact / semantic technologies, and research communication. Jackie is a strong proponent of science outreach and has developed programs and grants designed to promote scientific, data and information literacy.
